Not sure how to tackle the preservation
of your physical collections?
We can help!
All too often, the unknowns in our collections cause stagnation in our preservation efforts – if we don’t know what we have, how can we plan for the best way to manage it? We believe that taking a holistic view of an entire collection is the best approach to planning and prioritizing audiovisual assets for preservation.
Our consultants have a deep understanding of audiovisual assets, their associated risks and potential. We can help you design a preservation plan tailored to your institution’s – and your assets’ – needs.
As a steward for the audiovisual assets in your care, you are responsible for making sure they are findable, accessible, and sustainable. We at AVP strive to assist you in reaching that goal.
How it works
We meet with your institution’s stakeholders to understand your mission, needs, and goals.
We review existing documentation of assets.
We evaluate your assets’ storage environment(s).
We inspect your assets to determine format counts and condition.
Based on our observations and discussions, we prioritize your collection for preservation.
We provide you with recommendations, an action plan, and a budget for your preservation efforts.
Once you’ve decided on the right path forward, we can help you implement it. We offer services covering inventories, digitization project planning and management, technology selection, and more.
We offer three service tiers to help you get to the next stage of the process:
Pricing is dependent on the estimated size of the institution’s collections, the number of stakeholders to be included in interviews, the number of storage locations to be visited, and the depth of response required for each point.
“The real highlight of working with AVPS is the people. As a non-technical person on a technical project, I appreciated everyone's patience and respect, even when explaining aspects of the work that might have seemed elementary.”Southern Folklife Collection, Wilson Library, UNC-Chapel Hill
