Kara leads our consulting practice, designing and deploying the approaches that we use to help our clients answer key questions. She is committed to helping organizations design innovative solutions for their data and information management challenges. She has extensive expertise in system architectures, metadata and taxonomy design, data migration, system selection and implementation, and user experience. All of her work focuses on usability and sustainability, placing equal emphasis on the human and technical aspects of a solution.

Kara has served on numerous professional committees, and frequently speaks at conferences and workshops, nationally and internationally. She is the co-founder and co-organizer of the Association of Moving Image Archivists/Digital Library Federation Hack Day. From 2011-2015, Kara was Adjunct Professor at New York University, where she taught Digital Preservation and Digital Literacy for the MIAP Program, from which she also holds an MA.

After many happy years in Brooklyn, Kara relocated to St. Augustine, Florida (the nation’s oldest city) in 2016 where she lives with her husband, son, and fat cat. She spends a lot of time at Orangetheory Fitness and might try to drag you to the gym with her when she visits your city.
