This project centers on a 2-3 day onsite workshop with your team. During this session, we will work through:
- A problem statement
- A clear and compelling vision
- User prioritization
- Use cases
- Data needs for those use cases (type and quality)
- Current state assessment using our Operational Model
- Solution brainstorm
- Action steps, responsibilities, and milestones
Following the session we will deliver a summary of your strategy and an actionable roadmap to set you on your way.

We offer several standalone workshop offerings including:
Lightning Decision Jam – Quickly identify current challenges, prioritize opportunities, and create a plan of action in this fast-paced, problem-solving workshop. Our expert facilitators will guide you through a series of activities designed to create alignment around the problem to be solved and spur action toward a resolution. This workshop is perfect for teams that need help diagnosing and overcoming an issue, or establishing priorities for a new strategy. (Duration = 2 hours)
Creating a Guiding Vision – Create a vision that will guide your team into the future. In this workshop, AVP’s experts will lead you through a series of exercises designed to help you create clarity around where you are going, and how to get there. You will come away with a shared understanding of what the end result might look like, and a picture of the path forward. This workshop is ideal for teams that are ready to move forward toward a new future, but are in need of a roadmap. (Duration = 2-4 hours)
Establishing Asset Priorities – Organizations often find themselves overwhelmed by the sheer amount of digital assets in their care, and struggle to understand how to prioritize resources. The result is often an equal, but sub-optimal level of curation of all assets, which can result in poor outcomes for users. In this workshop, we engage with your internal stakeholders to learn what they value most. The outcome of this workshop will be the foundation for a new selection, collection, and/or curation policy that optimizes resources for impact. (Duration = 2-4 hours)
User-Driven Navigation – Digital assets are often organized and presented in ways that make sense to information managers, but are less meaningful to users. In this workshop, we engage with your users to learn how they mentally categorize your organization’s assets, what kind of terms they are inclined to use to search, and what information they need to know about assets in order to fulfill their needs. As a result of this workshop, you will be able to start to design a search, browse, and discovery experience that is optimized to what your users really need. (Duration = 2 hours)
A third-party evaluation of your digital preservation program can be helpful when impartial feedback and recommendations are needed.
We offer two assessment services designed around current industry standards and best practices:
1. DPGo! – A low-cost, digital preservation maturity assessment service based on the Digital Preservation Coalition Rapid Assessment Model (RAM). DPGo! is a facilitated, self-assessment in which a consultant guides your organization through the process of self-reflection, then analyzes and reports back on your organization’s digital preservation maturity. At the end of the two-month engagement, you’ll get a scored RAM digital preservation maturity assessment worksheet and visualizations along with a professionally designed slide deck containing our recommendations for your next steps and a roadmap to help you get there.
2. Trustworthy Repository (ISO 16363) Assessment – This comprehensive service evaluates all how your digital preservation service stacks up against the metrics of Audit and Certification of Trustworthy Digital Repositories (ISO 16363:2013). Our assessment report scores your repository’s compliance with each metric, and offers recommendations on improvements that could improve scores in future assessments, including priority, timeframe, and type of activity for each recommendation.
