Working with Christopher Young, Technical Director at The Merce Cunningham Dance Studio in New York, AVP designed and installed a video system to capture and edit “Mondays with Merce,” a project funded by the Mellon Foundation in conjunction with New York University for the purpose of  preserving and making accessible the record of the technique of dance legend Merce Cunningham.

  • To unobtrusively capture multiple angles of live dance instruction sessions with a single operator system while providing preservation worthy format deliverables for ingestion into a major university digital repository.

  • AVP designed and installed a recording and editing system with four remote controlled high definition video cameras, two of which are on robotic arms.
  • Developed innovative preservation workflows for Merce Cunningham Dance Foundation to create and deposit deliverables.
  • Teamed with NYU Digital Library to further develop applications, workflows, and processes for continued preservation of these valuable records.
